She has been an adjunct instructor for Troy University since summer 1992, enjoying working with students in numerous sites. She was an adjunct at the community college level for 15 years, teaching English, psychology, and sociology. Furthermore, she has been a Guidance Counselor for the Bay County Public Schools since 1986 and is State of Florida certified in both Guidance Counseling and English.
Interests:
In 2007, she published a novel based on her travels and career military family experiences.

Dr. Maureen Hannay is an Associate Professor of Management/Human Resource Management at Troy University. She received her B.A. from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and her Masters Degree in Industrial Relations as well as her Ph.D. in Industrial Relations/Human Resource Management from the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada. Prior to entering academia she worked as a human resources manager in both the oil and the banking industries. She has published in numerous professional journals and presented at both national and international conferences. Her current research interests include leadership theory, the application and assessment of human resource innovations in the workplace, employee attitudes, and the growing role of online learning in higher education. She was elected faculty member of the year in University College at Troy University in 2002-2003 and was selected as a Chancellor’s fellow for Troy University in 2007. |

Dr. George Horvat was born and raised in E. St. Louis, Illinois. He was educated in Catholic grammar and high school before attending Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, where he received a bachelor's degree in Financial Management with an emphasis in Economics. He returned to the St. Louis area to work, where he also continued my education in the evenings at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois. Dr. Horvat received a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling and was admitted to St. Louis University's doctoral program in counseling with an emphasis in Quantitative Research Methodology. He received his Ph.D. In 1969.
While working on his Ph.D. and after completion, he taught courses at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois. He then taught and served as director of the counseling center at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas, until he went to work for the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. In addition to working for the federal prison system, he also taught at East Texas State University in Texarkana, Texas; Drury College in Springfield, Missouri; University of Southern California in Los Angeles; and University of Minnesota at Duluth. Dr. Horvat held a position as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at USC Medical School, Department of Psychiatry.
Dr. Horvat has held an interest and been active in the mental health, psychology, and education fields for the past 47 years. He began his professional career as director of the counseling center of a senior high school in Belleville, Illinois, and has served as an educator in various capacities ever since. Through the years he has also maintained an interest in history, philosophy, and research. He holds a license in Psychology in the state of Minnesota and a Diplomate in Forensic Psychology. |

Dr. A.J. McCartney received his doctoral degree in psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1986, he was awarded an MS in 1981 as well as a BA in 1979 from Northeast Louisiana University. Since 1982 teaching has been a part of his professional career, although never the primary focus. Beginning in 1983 he has worked with: institutionalized Mentally Handicapped children/juveniles/adults, incarcerated juvenile delinquents, inpatient disturbed adolescents, general hospital psychiatric populations, inpatient and outpatient general psychiatric populations, Employee Assistance programs, weight management programs, as well as state, local, and federal inmate mental health populations. For the past 15 years his main focus has been on incarcerated, inpatient, drug rehabilitation participants within the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Currently he is the administrator of a 144 bed inpatient drug treatment program within a medium security federal prison.
In terms of professional teaching experience;
1996 - Present, Adjunct Instructor of Psychology and Counseling, Troy University, (Dothan AL, Tyndall AFB FL, Fort Walton Beach FL, Tampa FL, Chippola Junior College, Marianna FL), Graduate Courses Taught include: Research Methods, Counseling Diverse Populations, Human Lifespan, Growth and Development, Theories of Personality, Measurement and Evaluation in Education and Psychology, Assessment of the Individual, History and Systems of Psychology and Group Dynamics.
Dr. McCartney has presented at workshops and conferences associated with "The institute for integral development" as well as various Department of Justice training programs over the past 15 years and has written articles concerning the use of psychodrama and family sculpture therapy in drug treatment as well as articles explaining the "biopsychosocial model" of drug treatment as practiced by the Bureau of Prisons. |

Dr. Northam teaches in the Business area of the Southeast Region’s Florida sites. She holds a PhD in Business Administration, with concentrations in Marketing and Quantitative Methods, from the University of South Carolina; an MA in Marketing from the University of Alabama; and a BA in American Cultural History from Baylor University. Dr. Northam’s research interests and publications lie in issues relevant to business decision-makers, such as education priorities in a global economy, ethical challenges in competitive environments, employee benefits in an increasingly demanding business environment. She also has a strong interest in entrepreneurship and capital markets. Dr. Northam has made numerous presentations at national and regional conferences related to her work. |

Dr. Lance D. Scalf (Ph.D., M.S., B.A. Ed.) is an Adjunct Professor at Troy University in Counseling & Psychology at Tyndall/Chipola Site 1994-present.
His academic and professional interest focuses on Post Traumatic Stress Disorders, EMDR, Veterans Adjustment, Addiction and recovery processes, Hypnosis, Child Development and human adjustment issues, Health issues related to mental health.
Dr. Scalf is Licensed in Florida as a Psychologist and Marriage and Family Therapist. He has been in private practice since 1977. Parent Coordinator Leon County School District 1977-1978. He was Professor of Applied Science for Tallahassee Community College 1978-1993. He was Supervisor/trainer for the staff at Florida State Hospital from 1978-1992. He was Psychologist for the Dept. of Education for the Recovery Network Program (coordinating psychological treatment for educators) 2000-2002. He established Turnabout (Adolescent Drug and Behavioral Treatment Program in Tallahassee) 1981. He was Vietnam Readjustment Counselor and helped establish the Vet Center in Tallahassee Florida, 1985. He helped establish middle school component of SAIL (School for Applied Individual Learning) 1974 for Leon County School District.
Dr. Scalf was co-author of a competency based counseling program for the U. S. Dept. Of Labor 1974-76. He trained state supervisors all US States and Territories on the Competency Based program 1977. |
